Last weekend I made the trip home to Wales from Surrey picking up my brother on the way at Bristol Airport. As it was an early morning airport pick up we decided to go for brunch before heading across the River Severn. I had, of course, done a little googling beforehand and discovered Primrose Cafe in Clifton Village. The lovely Sarah aka Wuthering Bites (do check out her blog!) then confirmed that it was a great gluten free pitstop hence I knew I wanted to check it out.

The second I approached the cafe I knew I was going to love it, there were beautiful yellow flowers hanging down around the window and filling the window boxes, and plenty of tables outside to sip your coffee and people watch. Unfortunately, it was too dreary and wet a day to sit outside but the inside was equally as welcoming – incredibly homely and cosy with big wooden tables home to an amazing menu! I imagine this place would be fab in the winter too, sitting with friends supping on hot chocolate – shame I don’t live in Bristol as I know this would be a firm regular fixture.  The place was busy which is always a good sign – I suggest getting here early on a weekend as I imagine it would be packed.

The breakfast menu had heaps of gluten free options including bubble and squeak – brilliant! I opted for a healthier brunch and had eggs royale on a gluten free bagel. My brother went for a bigger brunch which included bubble and squeak. Even though my brother is not a coeliac both menu options were gluten free.

It was such a lovely way to catch up with my brother who I had not seen since Christmas and the food really was delicious. If you live in the area and haven’t already I urge you to check this place out.

Thanks again Wuthering Bites!
